SATIATED!

Post by Nimzovik »

Aw right! Das it! I ordered Rybka 3 from the sponsor of this forum. Have not gotten it just yet as I just ordered it. I believe in supporting this forum. However THAT is not the issue I wish to address. I am sure and as I have seen at the play chess server Rybka 3 is wonderful program. Kewl! In as far as it goes. HOWEVER. If I was a pro football team owner I would not buy a one legged quarterback! Such as it is with the current paradigm of chess programming. TACTIC tactics tactics and ok (lip service) some chess knowledge. I hereby announce Rybka 3 is last engine I buy. (I buy about 3-5 engines a year when available) It seems that once the momentum of utilizing tactics primarily got rolling alternative perspectives of programming ideas of chess got forgotten. Gentlemen I use my programs to analyze my openings. However the programs have ....shall we say only one eye! I play against HUMANS in tourneys. Humans that MAY understand positional (read closed positions) chess. For crying out loud! Do we have to wait till chess ( like checkers) has been solved before a program can 100 % of the time defeat a MUCH weaker (by what? -hundreds or ratings points) opponent? I refer of course to the anti chess ICON --Pablo! Draw upon draw upon draw! What GAPING HOLES is there in my much computer assisted analyses of my openings are waithing to cost me big time due to the blind eye of computer positional chess. Already I hear the pundits screaming counter arguments. Of course thier are some valid counter arguments. However hear what I AM saying and NOT what I am NOT saying! Is their a machine that can slay the fearsome aberration that Pablo is? 100% of the time? ERGO satiated is my word for the day. I reiterate. SATIATED of chess tactics engines. ( However if really cool GUIs come out with EXTRA features that are entertanining --I am IN AGAIN! I b junkie!
