Active Thinker engine

Post by Mic Moc »

I read many interesting things about Active Thinker. So I downloaded the last version from the site
http://www.geocities.com/thechessthinker/download.htm
but I soon realized it is a Winboard engine.
Is it possible to transform it in a UCI engine, so I can use it under the Fritz GUI? If yes how?
Thanks for your comments.

a) standart WB2UCI (but Thinker whitout view search)
Needed Wb2uci.exe (here) and load to Fritz (create UCI engine). My edit Wb2Uci.eng file (hashsize 7 = 64MB, 8=128MB etc.)
[ENGINE]
Name=Thinker 5.2K/64p
Author=Lance Perkins
Filename=ThinkerUCI.exe

[OPTIONS]
Program=MP-Passive-Thinker_64-bit.exe hashsize=7 threads=2
TerminateHard = true

b) old winboard adapter:
- To directory UCI Engines, e.g. c:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\ChessBase\Engines.UCI\
- Create DIR Thinker
- CD Thinker
- copy e.g. MP-Active-Thinker_64-bit.exe and rename to thinker.exe
- CD ..
- edit thinker.init, e.g.:
[Parameter]
Name= Thinker 5.2K/64a
CommandLine = hashsize=7 threads=1
Author = Lance Perkins
Engine = Thinker.exe
Debug = False

[Support]
AnalyzeMode = false
PonderMode = False
CastleAndEP = True
- copy old winboard adapter (here), unpack eng file and rename to thinker.eng
- if use logo, then copy some thinker.bmp
