I agree that the term micro-computer is not relevant for limitation to 8 cores.

I think micro-computer is about one core and no parallel search.

I also think that the term WCCC should allow clusters so you need to find a new name.

I suggest simply to call world 8 core computer championship in the name W8CC

Not sure I understand this. Why is the number of cores on the cpu package the determining feature defining a micro-computer. Presumably, micro referred to size initially, not the contents of the chip. And you will soon be able to buy an eight core computer from a general pc shop. I would want to know that the chess software (or any other software) can utilise the full capacity of the pc I bought.
