remarkable how similar in strength stockfish, komodo, naum and shredder are despite being quite different (particularly stockfish & komodo, i feel like naum & shredder are quite similar & i haven't used stockfish enough to really get a feel for it, but komodo seems like a quiet karpovian type engine whereas naum & shredder are 'aggressively technical' - think kramnik's recent games). cool stuff and i'm glad to have or soon have access to all of them (when komodo goes SMP -- btw, i know M ANSARI suspects that will be a real monster on octals). i'm not so sure myself because it seems things rarely work quite that way - for whatever reason engine results are perfectly linear along processor speeds to my knowledge, tho i suppose he meant in terms of finding tactical shots etc.

Naum 4 is certainly a different animal from N3.i look forward to Komodo on big hardware with good MP implementation.waiting for Alex next free update to 4.2.he is trying to improve 64 bit implementation.we all await Rybka 4. :)

I'm confused, are there Xeon's that you can overclock now?

yes 2 cpu's alone cost me over £2000 not Dollars.however thinking of the fun i have had since i bought them and built system worth every penny.how many people on forum spend $20,000 on a new car every 3 or 4 years and dont bat an eyelid.

best regards Paul.
