19th Amateur Series Division 4

Post by Graham Banks »

19TH AMATEUR SERIES (Division 4)

AMD64x2 Dual Core
ChessGUI
128mb hash each
3-4-5 piece tablebases
Ponder off
HS-Large Remis.bk3 book
40 moves in 38 minutes repeating (adapted for the CCRL)
All engines 32-bit 1CPU
4 cycles 44 rounds
Due to some engines being ineligible for the next series unless new versions come out (including Anatoli from this division), the top three engines will likely gain automatic promotion and there will likely be no automatic relegation. The fate of the fourth top engine and the bottom engine (perhaps others also) are likely be determined by grading matches before the next series.
Participants

For those wanting to follow more closely

Post by Graham Banks »

I will post updates here after every six rounds, but those wanting to follow the tournament more closely can do so from here:
http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/discuss ... f=7&t=4975
The games will be available for download after every two rounds from there.

New versions of both Delphil and Philou are being trialled. If all goes well, I'll be able to post the standings after 6 rounds at the weekend. :)

Hi Graham,

I thought you were not going to use Umko in your tournaments, it will win this easily.

Best,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

after the discussions that took place both here and elsewhere, I decided to stick with both Umko and Bison.
Has Umko 0.8 made a huge leap in strength over the previous version? Unless it has, it shouldn't be entirely out of place in this field.
At least there's the chance for two others to gain promotion at least. :)

Cheers,
Graham.

Yes, that is impressive. Fingers crossed that Division 4 won't be a complete cakewalk for it. :o
