Stockfish 1.7 vs IvanhoeT63Mini7 vs R3 R3H R3D 40/4 4 cpu

Post by frcha »

First IvanhoeT63Mini7 -

2.4 Ghz Winxp32 4 cpu ponder=off 40 moves/4 min repeating Gauntlet tournament on Arena. All engines vs IvanHoe-T 63Mini7
No book using Nunn 20 position suite.
1: IvanHoe-T 63Mini7 w32 100.0 / 160
2: Rybka 3 Dynamic 32-bit 17.5 / 40 +5=25-10
3: Rybka 3 Human w32 14.5 / 40 +3=23-14
4: Rybka 3_(cont 0) 14.0 / 40 +2=24-14 !!
5: Shredder12 14.0 / 40 +5=18-17

Then along comes stockfish1.7 -
Gauntlet tournament this time all engines vs Stockfish 1.7
Stockfish-17-32-ja - IvanHoe-T 63Mini7 w32 : 21.5/40 10-7-23 54%
Stockfish-17-32-ja - Rybka 3 Dynamic 32-bit : 20.0/40 12-12-16 50%
Stockfish-17-32-ja - Rybka 3 Human w32 : 24.0/40 13-5-22 60%
Stockfish-17-32-ja - Rybka 3_(cont 0) : 21.5/40 9-6-25 54%
Stockfish-17-32-ja - Shredder12 : 28.0/40 20-4-16 70%

All Rybka at contemp =0 looks like R3D does the best against both SF and Iv.

Iv has serious problems with SF!

Rybka's blind bishop bug/bishop underpromotion incapability is an absolute disgrace at this point -- beginner to average skill chess players will not be able to spot bad eval due to blind bishop bug ---

The blind bishop turns up with Rybka 's absurd evaluation in quite a few games

Re: Stockfish 1.7 vs IvanhoeT63Mini7 vs R3 R3H R3D 40/4 4 cp

Post by beram »

Dear Charles,

Interesting testing results with IvanhoeT63Mini7.
Two conclusions I certainly underline:

1) My own tests with Firebird 1.x against Rybka at contempt 0 also proved to be worse for Rybka ;-)
2) the blind bishop issue really harmes Rybka's play in quite a few games I observed, while Rybka played Firebird 1.x. Solving this problem can gave Rybka 5 or 10 more Elo (by rough estimation)

Against Stockfish 1.7 Firebird on my 32 bit system Firebird 1.2 lost and on my 64 bit system Firebird did won by a (Rybkalike) large margin :

Dualcore T4300 2100MHZ, Blitz 4m+2s Nunn2

1 FireBird 1.2 x64 +20/=21/-9 61.00% 30.5/50
2 Stockfish 1.7 JA 64bit +9/=21/-20 39.00% 19.5/50

One Question: Do you reckon IvanhoeT63Mini7 to be the strongest ? Dieter Esser (CSS forum) claims Ivanhoe-B 63modB3 to be the best.
And for sofar I tested this Ivanhoe modB3 against Firebird it won by narrow margins.

Yes, probably.... but further testing probably needed. In my machine ivanhoe b3 beat rybka 3 by a smaller margin than IvanhoeT63Mini7.
