Two first meanings of the dutch word "leren":
1. leren [vc] (learn, larn, acquire) acquire or gain knowledge or skills.
2. leren [v] (teach, learn, instruct) impart skills or knowledge to.

Re: Do you listen to music while programming?
This describes me very well, too. At work I am in a noisy environment and often need to listen to music to drown out background noise. At home I sometimes do, sometimes don't. I prefer to listen to already-familiar music when programming, because its less distracting. Although I have sometimes noticed, that listening to "new" music is more mentally stimulating which somehow can translate into higher productivity when programming. I avoid new music with vocals when I'm trying to program, because that tends to distract me.Edoardo Manino wrote:I listen to music while programming just to cancel out background noise! Since background noise is tipically unpredictable, I cannot concentrate. Music, instead, is highly predictable (note: music I've listened to for a long time and I know very well), it is louder than the background noise and isolates me completely.
Of course I need sometimes to focus on some hard algorithmic coding and thus I have to stop my music.
