Aquarium Book Adapter Q

I have a question regarding the move selection the aquarium book adapter chooses. As we know with Fritz, we have the ability to "optimize" books with respect to minimum games played, up to move # X, variety of play, influence of learn value, learning strength, and the ability to use only "Tournament" moves. I find that when I use the book adapter, you can only select up to what depth to use the book before reverting to engine moves, it is picking moves randomly and this can be extremely detrimental to engine vs engine matches. Does anybody have any particular solution to this matter? Thanks
