Re: MacPorts and XQuartz
I mentioned it becuse I often use it: engines often print more than fits in the Engine Output memos, so that the low depths scroll out of view. If I then want to copy the whole search output (for pasting it in the forum, say), it is a bit of a pain to select it with the mouse. You would have to it the upper-left corner exactly not to miss any characters there. Just clicking in the Memo and pressing Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C is much easier.

Re: MacPorts and XQuartz
You're probably right, lets make everything in the mode menu ctrl then.

Re: MacPorts and XQuartz
I'm afraid somewhere along the way we, or more likely I, implemented a new bug sometime since 4.8.0d which is really more or less on par with hg branch on 2015-05-17 save a few commits here or there.
The OSX localization strings work for the XBoard menu and Gettext localization seems to mostly work with everything else save the menubar menu titles. The items in the menus themselves are translated.
These use to translate which really leave me scratching my head. What have we done since then that could effect the gettexts menubar localization? Is it working but getting overwritten somehow?
It wasn't a gtkmacintegration change, I just tested with the 4.8.0d dylib.
Tommorow I'll see if I can narrow it down to what change killed it.

Re: MacPorts and XQuartz
Can it have to do something with prefixing the menu bar texts with an underscore, to define a shortcut letter that could be used to activate it after a plain Alt focused the menu bar? Perhaps the localization doesn't recognize them anymore because of that.

I can find out, did we just implement that?

Re: MacPorts and XQuartz
Well, 'just' is a relative notion, as I did not do much on XBoard for a long time now. But in terms of number of commits it should be relatively recent. And I think it breaks the Xaw version, as that actually prints the underscores.

Ah, it's labeled "Define mnemonics for main menu bar" 2015-05-07
I tested right before it, and then it, and indeed appears to be the problem.
So should we change all the .po files?

Re: MacPorts and XQuartz
Indeed, it can be fixed by changing the .po files. Normally we wait for the translators to do that, however.

Re: MacPorts and XQuartz
In this case there is nothing to translate. it's just the input line. But we should update whatever master file sometime before we update to 4.8.1 or whatever.

Re: MacPorts and XQuartz
Oh and one more thing, I keep forgettting. We should probably rename the xiagnqi board textures to xqboard-9x10.png and xqwood-9x10.png to take advantage of the code you wrote to fix the alignment. I've been using it in the mac app, but keep forgetting to let you know those textures haven't been changed in the src.
