Depends on the time of year. In winter yes but in summer when all the gas has to do is provide hot water, electricity bill far exceeds it, i.e. 3 times as much. In Europe electricity is very expensive, whereas in the USA it is much cheaper I hear.
Interesting to factor in what part of the world you live in. Electricity here is low cost in my opinion.

Same with petrol. In the USA and some oil-rich countries, petrol is cheap. In Europe, it is heavily taxed and massively expensive.
