TCEC should use this idea to Test Engines........

Post by Chessqueen »

I believe that TCec should stsrt experimenting by letting Stockfish NNUE, Komodo Dragon, LcZero, and Stoofvlees without Opening Books to compete against, all other on the Premier league and these engines using their own Opening Books ==> Alliestein and Ethereal Scorpio and rofChade etc... NOW that would be more interesting to see than using Opening Books that give the advantage to White as in TCEC. What would the Outcome be?
Forget about memorization of Opening Theories https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN3381sdcdY

Honestly, I think a lot of people misunderstand the 'purpose' of TCEC. It is simply a 'tournament' with a variety of set openings/defenses played as both black and white...and whichever engine can handle this the best is the Champion. It is FAIR.

Each engine using their own 'opening books' or conversely 'no opening book' would either result largely in 1. A 'war of opening books' or 2. Not resemble 'good chess' as we know it because of a lack of variety.

But everyone loves to kibitz...
