Re: Intel 12th-gen CPU
Forget about DDR5, if you take it, you'd be paying a premium for fools. First it's barely faster than properly configured (XPM) and fast (>3600) DDR4.
Second even when really running faster you can't see any improvement in games that are way more sensitive to memory speed than chess engines.
Maybe revisit it in 2-3 years when DDR5 is gonna be 50+% faster than fastest DDR4 of today.

Re: Intel 12th-gen CPU
The DDR5 marketing is the same as the Marketing between 4G and 5G for cell Phones they are brainwashing most people to get a newer cell phone with G5 when in reality there is NOT too much speed improvement between 4G LTE and 5G yet—but it's creeping up in speed with each passing month, ... You can get a little faster speeds on 5G Cell phones only because 5G networks use higher-frequency radio bands to deliver signals, that is all.

Rumor has it that AMD Zen 4 will support AVX3-512...

very low frequceny, very narrowband and hence very slow 5G networks have much higher chances in worldwide roll-out than higher-frequecny and high-speed networksChessqueen wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 2:34 am You can get a little faster speeds on 5G Cell phones only because 5G networks use higher-frequency radio bands to deliver signals, that is all.
outdated UMTS-2100 (3G) and new LTE-700 and LTE-600 frequencies will likely employ 5G NR modulation scheme rather than conventional LTE
in Poland very small amount of outdated 3G spectrum (2x5 MHz in 2100 MHz band) changed modulation scheme to 5G
it is not fast (average 5G speed in Warsaw is 126 Mbps, which is 1/3 of conventional LTE speed, which was 322 Mbps average in Warsaw last year) but it adds extra capacity (322 + 126 is better than 326 + 0)
Why people last year bought extra package (pay extra $$$ to switch from fast 320 MBps network to slow 80-120 Mbps network?)
Operators decided to sell this added capacity with higher amount of data in plans. T-mobile doesn't count traffic to 16 heavy streaming hosts (like Youtube, netflix, tik-tok etc), even if you consume 1000 Gb per month. To consume these 1000 Gb you need 5G-compatible phone or modem.
You cannot buy 1000 Gb in conventional LTE networks (data plans limited to 20...40 Gb per month)
In USA, Verizone also sells 5G services as more Gb, not "record-breaking speeds"

Re: Intel 12th-gen CPU
I'm surprised there are developed world countries where even the most basic mobile subscription doesn't include unlimited data. But then again, USA on average is nothing like developed country, actually much closer to a third world country. And those mobile subscription plans in Poland are outrages, that's not even third world country level. You should simply use German SIM card.yurikvelo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 9:21 pmvery low frequceny, very narrowband and hence very slow 5G networks have much higher chances in worldwide roll-out than higher-frequecny and high-speed networksChessqueen wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 2:34 am You can get a little faster speeds on 5G Cell phones only because 5G networks use higher-frequency radio bands to deliver signals, that is all.

To consume 1000GB per month one needs in the first place high bandwidth streaming service (and no, tik-tok, youtube or netflix are not high bandwidth streaming services). 4k streaming is, first scarce and vary rare, and second 4k streaming on a cellphone screen of 6 inches is totally ridiculous. So unless you use your cellphone as an access point for multiple computers spending 1000GB per month is not even SF.
And even if you are using your phone to constantly watch 4k streams you wouldn't need more than 25-30Mbps. So who the hell needs 300 or 400Mbps and for what?

Two things I know:
1. Early adopters are fools
2. You only life once, so 'go for it'...no need to wait for a price to fall in a couple of years.
If the two seem contradictory, then so be it.

Germany:
Vodafone/TKS easyMobile 5G - 10 Gb/month = €40 / month
Vodafone/TKS easyMobile 5G - 20 Gb/month = €50 / month
Vodafone/TKS easyMobile 5G - unlimited = €70 / month
deutsche telekom 5G Magenta S 6 Gb/month = €40 / month
deutsche telekom 5G Magenta M = 12 Gb/month = €50 / month
deutsche telekom 5G Magenta L = 24 Gb/month = €60 / month
Unlimited data plans are possible because Germany uses new high frequency spectrum - TDD-3500 (band N78), which has 100 MHz bandwidth and relatively small coverage area (hence - high Mbps density per km2)
This is not possible in Poland, because government cancelled spectrum auction in 2020 and plan to sell high frequencies in late 2022
Vodafone/TKS easyMobile 5G - 4 Gb/month = €35 / monthVodafone Tariffs with unlimited data volume may only be used as end customer with domicile in Germany in the usual scope mobile in a smartphone. The resale is just as inadmissible as the use in routers and the transfer to third parties. The same applies to the operation of commercial services and the routing of data connections. TKS / Vodafone reserve the right to automatically disconnect the connection after every 24 hours

Re: Intel 12th-gen CPU
I am sorry for the situation in Poland but this really sounds like a third world country. I have unlimited 4G/5G plan in Switzerland for 30chf/month. That is less than 30 eur/month. In Switzerland we only have unlimited data plans since more than 10 years.
Wired net I pay also 30 chf/month (with some discount due to mobile subscription) that includes 10Gbps fibre, fixed phone and TV packages of all kinds.
My point, justifying 5G as a patch band aid for thieving mobile service providers and corrupted state is kind of ridiculous.
