Hi Wilhelm,

I have CM Grandmaster Edition. Is there a way to have TheKing350_64.exe use more than 3 threads?

I notice your tests include T8 case, which I assume to be 8 threads.
For me, regardless of how many I specify in user.ini file (threads_count=8 for instance), the engine always uses only 3 threads.
Tried it on different PCs and was unable to overcome this limitation.

Please let me know, thank you!

Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,
under the Chessmaster-GUI there is no way to use more than three threads directly I think.
But you can use the way to import a setting with inbetween and there you can use the /t8 command to use 8 cores.
Read here

scroll down to
Personalities for import via InBetween.ini as winboard engines

If you need more help ask me :-)

Thanks Wilhelm!

Unfortunately, on trying to use the OPK patch on TheKing350_64.exe I get a message "The King, unknown version."
The readme file only lists versions between 3.12a and 3.33.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Cheers,
Peter

The x64 version doesn't work correct when patched. I only use the original and generate the opk number with the VB-script.
There is no other way. On my download page you find a link to Grahams tools. He also made a program to generate the opk number.

Thank you again Wilhelm, I appreciate your responses.

I was able to follow Graham's instructions and for me the x64 version works fine! It seems -t8 is the max. number of threads supported, but that's a nice bump from the original 3 under CM GUI.

Big thanks to Graham for the excellent instructions on how to make this work in Arena.

Cheers,
Peter
