After 60 ply think after the first possible move by white...
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

I am not sure.
I also expect different analysis if you run 60 plies again today.
Not sure even if the first move is going to be the same.

Re: After 60 ply think after the first possible move by white...

Re: After 60 ply think after the first possible move by white...
Assuming you use more than a single core I expect different lines at depth 60 even if you use the same SF and I will not be surprised by a different first move.Dann Corbit wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 8:37 pm I replaced the70 ply search in my database with the 60 ply search I just made.

You probably can build some big opening book only by running the opening position to depth 60
10 times and add the moves that stockfish suggest to the opening book and later do the same for every position in the opening book at ply 1 and later do the same for every position in the opening book at ply 2 and continue in this way.
Depth 60 is a very big depth so it is going to take a lot of time but it may be nice to have some interface to do it for a specific depth and every engine that you choose that is not deterministic (because of using more than one core or because of different reasons) when there may be 2 options (one with clearing hash between searches and one without clearing hash between searches).
It may be interesting to compare the size of the opening book when you generate them in this way(for example if you decide depth 10 and ply 10 or if you decide depth 20 and ply 10).

Re: After 60 ply think after the first possible move by white...
The knight move astonished me, so I did it twice at 60 plies.
I did get a different reply to the knight move:
First pv:

It is very rare to get different first moves from SF after a long search unless they are permutations.

Re: After 60 ply think after the first possible move by white...
I see that already the second move is already different so I doubt if it is very rare to get a different first move.Dann Corbit wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 9:47 pm The knight move astonished me, so I did it twice at 60 plies.

I find different moves with 7 cores at depth 34 from the opening position and I see no reason to have a different picture with a longer search.
