The death of ICC

Post by jdart »

For the last week or so, Arasan is the only strong engine still regularly on ICC (chessclub.com). It's been on the server, not continuously, but almost all the time since 1994.

However, it really has no similar-strength opponents there anymore. I set the formula so it doesn't accept challenges from low-rated humans, which it is basically never going to lose. It's still on FICS though, and active there.

I have looked at getting Arasan up on lichess but I have not had any success getting the bot program to work (https://github.com/ShailChoksi/lichess-bot/issues/464). Also, recently I have just had no time to work on it.

What problems are you running into with getting up on Lichess? I had to fiddle a bit to get Blunder playing on Lichess, but I've got it working now. I'll see if I can remember how I ended up fixing some different issues if they're similar to the ones you're encountering.

My most recent set of problems are in the Github issue I mentioned.

Prophet is far behind Arasan, but it would still sit idle nearly all the time. It was not unusual for a day to go by without a single game. ICC is a shell of what it used to be, unfortunately. I've given up on it.
