Yes ... there is also another video where Magnus is totally drunk and playing in these bullet tournaments ... I don't think that is legal as alcohol can be considered a stimulant. In these tournaments he sometimes comes in and joins way after the tourney starts. It is one of the most incredible experiences to watch him start way behind the field and climb up and many times win the tournament. I never thought much of MC as a chess player ... just that he is incredibly good at chess ... like Kramnik or Kasparov or Bobby Fischer ... but watching him stream his bullet play is beyond amaziing .. and really something that is special. Especially as he is playing sometimes with a laptop and touchpad ... and with a bunch of guys around him drinking beer and chatting! If I am playing a bullet chess game online and the phone rings or my wife calls out something ... I immediately lose the thread and lose!

On another note ... you think that David Howell blurting out that there is a queen trap in a winning position by MC in a bullet game where he is streaming live is the same as Hans Nieman using chess engines to cheat online? You see this as equal and that somehow Hans should be let off the hook as MC is doing the same?

Here I was thinking I was the only one to possess that trait.

The same? Don’t know. But we know that Magnus isn’t above getting outside assistance during a tournament.

As it turns out, this was a rated tournament with prize money. And Magnus was so boneheaded as to stream his cheating live. Yuck.

So did lichess immediately ban/shut down Magnus and/or David Howell over this obvious violation? If not, why not? Has anyone asked David Howell to comment, since he was the one that actually gave the hint, presumably not requested by Magnus? Of course Magnus should return any prize money he won in that event, but Howell is the one who more clearly has something to explain, unless there's something I'm unaware of. Magnus should have at least warned Howell not to make further comments on moves before they have been played in an event like this.

No idea. If anyone knows David, perhaps they can ask?
