Re: Fritz 19

I only posted a few examples, there are many more positions. Here are some more positions that my friends lost with the GUI 18 update version 18. Finally, my friends had to install the old update 10 from August 2022 to stop the defeats! ChessBase does nothing so that we can play correctly with the latest GUI 18 update. And now should I buy Fritz 19? Why did I buy Fritz 18 and Powerfritz 18?

As I said, these are just examples from my friends, actually 2 players. :!:

Examples from my database (losed games on PlayChess.com with GUI 18, positions are draw):

Sorry, it was my mistake. Here both players played incorrectly with Fritz 18 GUI. Here is the complete game:

Should I continue playing with such a GUI? :?:

It's unbelievable what the GUI 18 produces with Syzygy, simply unbelievable! Sad, sad, sad....

Nope, change to F19
:)
Seriously, Eduard, if you aren't interested in the engine itself, probably no need to change from 18 (if it does work correctly as for the tbs now, my version 11 does, haven't had a update till then, never have them after the first few ones, if I once have a stable version, I always stick to it, if there isn't any publicly known bug to be repaired)

As for the engine, some more Elo in selfplay for sure there are, this one match is ongoing still, but I guess I can as well already stop, LOS is clear, just wanted to see head to head with single thread, 3'+1", UHO 6mvs 110-119:

Score of Fritz 19 vs PowerFritz 18: 99 - 39 - 164 [0.599]
Elo difference: 70.0 +/- 26.4, LOS: 100.0 %, DrawRatio: 54.3 %
302 of 500 games finished.
Peter.

In addition to Fritz 18, I also bought ChessBase 16. ChessBase 16 behaves with the Syzygy in the same way as Fritz 18. The same driver for the Syzygy is used here. I would like this to work correctly. Is that too much? The company wants to constantly sell new things without fixing the errors of previous versions. That's my criticism! It's not about money either. The joke is that I would have bought Fritz 19 if the previous versions and ChessBase 16 worked correctly (very important for me). But not like that... "buy Fritz 19". No.

Can you write more about this engine? Who is the author of the engine and does it use NNUE.

It's the latest version of chessbase- engine, only to be bought together with latest version of GUI Fritz 19, author is Frank Schneider (author of Ginkgo too).

BTW. today's 25%- discount at cb- merchandises, regards

The most important thing to me is ChessBase 16, and it pains me that I can't use the latest update here. I also spend a lot of time in endgame analyzes and if the CB 16 GUI shows me incorrect Syzygy moves then that's not nice. I like playing freestyle chess (a shortened form of correspondence chess). And I use the ChessBase program 16 for this. There are currently no freestyle tournaments, but if it were otherwise then it really wouldn't be nice that this program produces such errors, as you can see in the examples. Even if I were to buy Fritz 19, the BUGs of CB 16 would still be there.

Odd Gunnar Malin wrote: Tue Nov 14, 2023 11:18 am I haven't bought Fritz to play against the Fritz 19 engine, it is to use the other feature in the GUI. It should be fun and motivated to play chess, and I think this is something Chessbase try to do with Fritz. I doubt you even play against the Fritz 19 engine while you play in the GUI. I haven't tested it on Fritz 19, but for Fritz 18, you always play against a internal engine, both when playing the "easy game" or playing with reduced strength. The Fritz 19 engine only shows up in the analyze pane as analysis engine and/or as a buddy engine.
I turned 60 last week, got a powerful new laptop so I treated it to the Fritz 19 GUI last night. A new feature seems like an easy way to test myself against my opening files I already have in chessbase and against differing personalities. As I know from recent OTB tourneys, recalling lines when I haven't played (OTB) in ages can be...a 'challenge' in itself.
No interest in pushing it through matches against others and their engines so I think I and 99% of buyers will be perfectly happy with it.
