The eval is jumpy because of the aspiration windows being set; if you have 5 moves searched in multiPV mode, and the best one is +0.7 and the 5th best one is -4.5, a new depth iteration uses the windows used for the last move - i.e. really low windows that have to jump up a lot to catch up to the best move's score. I'm not 100% sure how to cleanly fix this at present. There's also an issue with reporting odd scores such as M500 because the evaluation function isn't properly clamped. I'll fix these little issues eventually.

Comparing its evaluation to another cookie cutter program will produce a different outcome. That's to be expected.

Why is there a need to relate patricia to any other NORMAL engine. I thought patty is about Fun, Fun, Fun.

I agree. Other programs that I loved in the past has this aspect. Chess System Tal, Mchess Pro (DOS), HIARCS 4 (DOS), wChess (DOS), ban (Junior), NowX. Chess Tiger 2007 humans were especially frustrated against. Ahh, those were the romantic years of computer chess.

I think that many people are excited about Patricia for use in analysis because it's so different compared to other engines. And multi-pv is useful for doing analysis.

How many of use are continually making 3500-3700 ELO moves. It's good to go over lines with this and remember the best move and reason but it's also "fun" to see what Patricia plays and why.

it might be helpful for the programmer if you specified the exact position
(where F18/ginkgo gave a much higher eval)

(while P3.1 is fun to play already, it's my impression there's probably some scope for improvement
in the search (also without multipv but just one pv in very sharp positions the eval often seems to be
quite jumpy); such improvement might further improve the strength without compromising on the
very 'aggressive' (imo active) style); and at least it's not an SF derivative :)

See move 21. The idea is that the incorrect evaluation (quite frequent) does not make it very useful in the analysis. Of course, the game is spectacular.....ZChess 2.00 London (by Franck Zibi) once impressed me a lot.

it might be helpful for the programmer if you specified the exact position
(where F18/ginkgo gave a much higher eval)

(while P3.1 is fun to play already, it's my impression there's probably some scope for improvement
in the search (also without multipv but just one pv in very sharp positions the eval often seems to be
quite jumpy); such improvement might further improve the strength without compromising on the
very 'aggressive' (imo active) style); and at least it's not an SF derivative :)
my 2 cnts again
See move 21. The idea is that the incorrect evaluation (quite frequent) does not make it very useful in the analysis. Of course, the game is spectacular.....ZChess 2.00 London (by Franck Zibi) once impressed me a lot.

IMHO if you want accurate evaluations, you use Stockfish or Lc0.

If I were to use "Patty" for analysis, it would be mostly for suggesting moves/plans, and I'll use my own chess judgment to evaluate if I like it or not for whichever side.

Among the 4 lines she suggests, definitely, 1 or 2 of them contain an idea other engines didn't even have on their radar.

No other engine is coming with the insane ideas Patty is, this is where the value of the MultiPV shines. 8-)

BTW....nice to see you posting again.
