It's time for the forum members to elect their favorite moderator who will be in charge for 6 months where after new moderator elections will take place.
Based on our long experience we (the FG) have decided to do this a bit different than in the past :
1. From the past we learned that 3 moderators too often end up in a quarrel and that one or two people leave, we have seen cases a whole team resigns. Moderation decisions can be very sensitive and you can not always expect 3 people come to the same conclusion and division slips in. Therefore not 3 moderators, but only one moderator to run the show for that 6 months and keep the place sane, it will be hard enough, but less hard as it was with three people. In case of absence (illness, holidays) one of the FG members will temporarily take over.
2. It will be the task of the chosen moderator to uphold the constitution of Talkchess which is the charter a quote -
1. Are, within reason, on the topic of computer chess
2. Are not abusive in nature
3. Do not contain personal and/or libelous attacks on others
4. Are not flagrant commercial exhortations
5. Are not of questionable legal status.
6. Are not bullying, or vicarious bullying
7. Do not advocate the banning, exclusion or expulsion of individual members
8. Do not spam, swamp or degrade threads with noise. Respect the right of members to start a thread that they wish to remain on the topic they wish to discuss.
3. It's will be the job of the FG -
a) to introduce the chosen moderator to the software.
b) give advice when needed.
c) take action if a moderator goes rough, is out of control and does not listen to the FG to improve. In such an hypothetical case the FG may fire him/her and organize new elections, or coopt or appoint new moderator(s).
4. Last change, in the past members nominated people for moderator. That worked quite well in the days many people were willing to do the job. That interest has decreased. Therefore this time we ask people who want to run for moderator to step forward and and contact us in PM and we will add his or her name to this closed thread. We will organize this election only when at least 3 people step forward, the community has a right to have something to chose for.
5. This thread and call for moderators will run for one week, thereafter the candidate moderators are asked to put their moderator philosophy into PM to us and their moderator philosophy will be added to this closed thread and questions can be asked in this separate thread. In principle one week should be enough for the candidate moderators to answer all questions to their satisfaction, if not we might add a few more days more. After that the voting will start.
6. On this thread you can voice your questions, criticism, hints about this new way of organizing the moderator elections.

. Membership at least 6 months;
. Are not banned during the last 6 months;
. Availability at least 6 months;
. Minimum of 100 posts;
. Last login in October;
. Must be registered with real name.
Electable people to run for moderator, 128 members.
