Thanks for the warm welcome so far. :)

Some of these cases, at least from what I saw, had a history behind them where one word gave another, and tension was building up. That is where moderation would have had the most benefit, i.e. early on, but reporting a looming escalation is difficult when there is none just yet.

As for your question specifically: if an FG member were to violate the charter, I would to mod-edit the posting and remind the offender to stay within the charter. I trust that to be sufficient because after all the work the FG has invested into keeping the lights on after the exit from ChessUSA, it's not in their interest to ruin the platform.

You have my support, Ras.

I don't intend causing any problems for you and I'm hoping that others won't either.

FG members are subject to the same rules for posting as other members. The function of a moderator is to judge others, though, which could be interpreted as insulting or harrassment for misbehaving members who are on the receiving end of corrective measures. To effectively fulfill their function moderators have to be above the law.

I agree this could be confusing in cases where a moderator happens to be an FG member. Or a participant in a discussion, for that matter.

But in the past, when the shop was in charge, we had one admin "Sam Hull" who in theory could also misbehave and was subject to moderation. So nothing has changed, except that now we had 3 admins (the FG) what certainly is an improvement, only in charge with the well being of the forum and not with the mixed interests of the shop.

Seems rather to imply that there are people for who you would cause problems

No. I'm looking for a peaceful existence no matter who is moderating. :)
