Ehsan Rashid and the DON engine (SF based)

Post by Graham Banks »

He has asked me to post a link to his latest effort plus the source code:

https://github.com/ehsanrashid/DON/tree/main

He is hoping that some will try it out and post the results here.

What's the differences between this and SF? As far as I've looked there aren't any. Also pretty funny how in the README, DON replaced Stockfish. :D

Has he not "tried it out" himself already ?

Unsurprisingly, I would not recommend wasting your time with it. Mildly tweaked Stockfish's are a dime a dozen. Plenty of more interesting things going on that are worth looking into. Some day someone will come around with a very profound Stockfish fork perhaps, but I don't think that day has come yet.
When you can't win an argument, you censor it.
When you can't win an election, you remove your opponents.
Just because you've been doing something for a long time, does not mean you are any good at it.

I've told Ehsan that it won't be tested for CCRL.

You personally won't test it but another CCRL tester could do because they are all free to do what they want, although I imagine they all have their hands full without considering yet another derivative.

Let's just say that I know their views regarding such engines.
