Some stated that swiss tournaments were not of their liking.
I disagree. Just doing ladder type events can cause an artificial clustering problem especially when you factor in the fast climbing derivatives. By intoducing swiss events with twice the number of participants that you typically use in ladder events (division events) and cluster overlap, you can produce a more accurate rating list and grouping.

We all know that just because A beats B and B beats C, it is not guaranteed that A beats C. However, that is somewhat of the assumption in ladder climbing clusters.

To be clear, I am not saying drop ladder. I am saying do both alternating or at least swiss periodically.

They also help connectivity between older engines and more recent ones.
