Re: STS (v4.0) SV: 50 seconds, 4 x 3.0GHz, 1 GB Ram Glaurung
Wow, Shredder and Glaurung score pretty very high on this though. I remember Glaurung consistently getting 80's - 85's in previous suites. Truly a Grade - A Engine!

Re: STS (v4.0) - SV: 50 seconds, 4 x 3.0GHz, 1 GB Ram NOTES
These runs only count correct and failed because I am using Arena.
Some of the programs may have learned from the test sets (in particular, I think that Rybka and Shredder both did learning because of the look of the pvs -- it looked like hash hits since the pvs were truncated).
So, YMMV.

I think that Shredder and Rybka saved hash or did some kind of learning from previous runs due to the shortened pvs I saw during the calculations.swami wrote:Wow, Shredder and Glaurung score pretty very high on this though. same 30 secs per move, but faster hardware as the nps shows:swami wrote:Thanks for the report. Would it do even better in that faster hardware you had where you once reported Crafty getting 95/100 in it. Was wondering how Crafty would do in the same test on that hardwarebob wrote: I ran this on my core2-duo 2.0ghz laptop, 30 secs / position. I did not do the different move bonus scoring stuff, just either found the "bm" or didn't find it.

I think Bruce Moreland's open source code engine Gerbil solved these positions somewhat quickly:
17
21
42
63
68
72
90
So I assume these were obvious ones. Anyway Gerbil only scored 44/100 but got the above questions correct.
73/100 at 5 minutes per position is pretty good results for Xpdnt.

Sungorus 1.1 scores 40/100 in a 32-bit Pentium 3 1000Mhz 4sec/move 8mb hash
I'll try with 32mb hash and 1min/move

Re: STS (v4.0) - "Square Vacancy"
Thank you, Marco for testing it out. This is about the maximum any engine could get. No doubt the engine's got good understanding. Other test suite I remember Glaurung needed improvement on is probably "Knight Outposts/Centralization and Repositioning" where it scored less relative to other less stronger engines.
