hi Jon
The answer is really simple.
I have made a couple of compiles from the Ivanhoe 999946f final source from Ippolit wiki.
The first one was Ivanhoe 46f x64.Both in the GamePlay and Analysis flavours.As this is how the default source comes out.(before this there was some others too which i named 999946f but some bugs were discovered regarding RobboBases and authors gave fixes on Ippolit wiki so i named it 99946f etc... until i ended up with 46f which was the final compile with the information and bug fixes available to me at that time)
I want to clearly state,and i have also stated this in my original posts when i released these compiles,that with Ivanhoe 46f I have made no changes to the piece values or the thinking process of the engine,it is exactly the same as the original source,and will think the same.
But... i like to experiment,and i have made some other compiles as well after this.I called them Ivanhoe B46fa and Ivanhoe B46fb.
With Ivanhoe B46fa i have added combo menu's for the RobboBases Loading/unloading etc which i have also clearly stated in my posts on Immortal Forum.There was problems with the push menu's in Scid vs. PC GUI and this is the reason why i have done this.
Here i have also changed the default piece values and i have mentioned it also in my post on Immortal Forum.It is not a secret,and i have never made any secret of this.
With the Ivanhoe B46fB i have fixed a little bug with the combo menu's that i added so that it worked properly in Shredder GUI and Aquarium GUI as well now.
So i try to give the users a choice.And i love compiling and experimenting and working on Ivanhoe.
If they don't like the modification compilations from me they are free to use the default Ivanhoe 46f compiles from me or the compiles from KLO or any other person who compiles the Ivanhoe sources,or they are free to even compile it themselves since the sources is open and free to anyone to compile.
And if some people fail to mention the changes i have made to the modifications on their forums when they just copy and paste the links to my compiles,and leaving out the information i included with my post,then people should take this up with them.
I hope this clears out all misunderstandings.
Just one last thing,the default source from Ippolit wiki has a naming convention that starts with 9999 and then the version number for example 46f which goes backwards.Next big version will be 999945 for example.Small modification from authors will be names 46h for example.
So version numbers go down with new versions and letters goes from a to z for example.
The latest source by the way is IvanHoe 999946h and the source is also available on Ippolit wiki and i have compiled this also and posted the link plus information on Immortal Forum.
Best Regards
Izak

Re: SWCR Event: IvanHoe 999946f vs. IvanHoe B46fB soon
Hi Izak,
it seems I misunderstand a point in the mails you wrote. Sorry for that. It's quite clear that you made only changes in value pieces in B46jA and used the same changes for B46JB.
No changes in your compiles to 46f and 46h.
Here some statistics I made for 3 hours:
1. Lost on time games:
Both compiles produced three of this games. Games are replayed.
2. Shredder GUI crashes:
Two for both compiles, but no of this crashes have to do with one of the IvanHoe compiles.
3. Remis games up to move number 16.
The books I used are over a longer time very good optimated. But 4 games I replayed after fast remis games. Two games with remis after 16 moves, one game with remis after 18 and one with remis after 19 moves. More or less random because the openings are OK. Fast remis games I replayed since I started this rating list.
4. Move average, nice to see because I am playing without resing mode.
B46fB = 86 moves
999946f = 85 moves
After the first 300 or 400 games 4 moves different but now it seems around the same.
5. Remis Quote
B46fB = 36%
999946f = 34%
After the first games very big differents, have a look in all the tables I posted. Now it seems with more and more games also the same.
6. Fast win / lose games up to move number 56
B46fB = 32x won = 3,80%, 5x lost = 0,59%
With fast win games much other programmers are better, examples
Stockfish 2.1.1 PHQ, Spark 1.0, Houdini, Critter 1.2.
But in fast lost games a very good statistic. IvanHoe isn't easy to beat
999946f = 26x won 3.09%, 6x lost = 0,71%
After all, all is the same. At the moment the game statistics between move 56 - 80 are a bit better for 999946f. Your compile is playing a bit stronger vs. stronger opponents, 999946f vs. weaker opponents. But this one can be random.
I think end of the test the statistics will be to 95% the same. Intiuitiv I would say that I have with the produced games from your compile a bit more fun, a bit more solid and better results vs. stronger opponents.
Let us wait of the last games!
Thanks again for your work around IvanHoe.
Best
Frank
PS:
For Jon, now in different parts after more as 800 games I got to different points other statistics. Is not esay to say a bit about such results, I try it but often I am wrong because it need more resuls. On the hand its a bit brain jogging to try that during such a big test.

Re: SWCR IvanHoe Event: After 1.400 final
hi Frank
Thanks for this great tournament!
One thing stands out for me and that is that Ivanhoe has improved from version 47 to version 46.I was not even expecting this and i am quite surprised to see Ivanhoe getting even stronger
The future of Ivanhoe looks bright and we even have Ivanhoe now in the top 3 engines again!
Well done to the programmers of Ivanhoe from the Ippolit Wiki and i hope they will continue this effort in the new year.
What a good way to end the year
Best Regards
Izak

Hello Izak,
I hope that the programmers can found a bit in the games. Games are now online.
Good work, thanks ... (and also for the latest updates)
Have a nice christmas time!
Best
Frank
