Jim Ablett´s Final Bundle

Post by Norbert Raimund Leisner »

Hello together,

http://jimablett.atwebpages.com/

Google Chrome shows always an error message:

The file you are trying to download is no longer available.
This could be due to the following reasons:
The file has been removed because of a ToS/AUP violation.
Invalid URL - the link you are trying to access does not exist
The file has been deleted by the user.

SeaMonkey causes in contrast no problems, you have to allow the download separately with data volumes > 50 MB

http://www.seamonkey-project.org/

download time ~ 1 hour with 16000 DSL-connection (including storage)

I used AVG antivirus to scan the EXE bundle before unpacking it, and got an infection warning.

False alarm? I think

Infected;"Message";"Runtime packed fsg";"C:\Downloads\JA-Bundle-Final.exe";"Infected"

(no further details)

Thx, I just downloaded it (Firefox).

Bye
Ingo

PS: Why are people still using RAR? I unpacked and packed again with 7z (PPMd, 1024 MB book size, 32 word size, self unpacking) and 7z is 588 MB smaller than RAR!

Sometimes the way the exe is "packed" triggers false alarms. This happens with a few engines.

Before burning Jim's bundle to disc I let 7-zip run a diagnostic test on the archive files. Given the total number of archive files in the bundle there were only a few archive files that came up as corrupt. The only archive files that failed the test were some rar and zip files.

I only had nine zip files that I had downloaded from Jim's website in the past to replace some of the corrupt ones in the bundle with. Anybody that doesn't have the files and wants them can get them at the below link along with the 7-zip diagnostic results.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5mdqajoukirms41/list.zip?m

These are the nine included zip files with the path of where they are in Jim's bundle:

Code: Select all

JA-Bundle-Final\CRAFTY\ARCHIVE\EXTRAS\Crafty book 23.0 21.6 gm-2600.zip
JA-Bundle-Final\CUCKOOCHESS\ARCHIVE\cuckoochess-105-ja.zip
JA-Bundle-Final\DEEPDUKE\deepduke_100_ja.zip
JA-Bundle-Final\GLAURUNG\glaurung22_win98_ja.zip
JA-Bundle-Final\JCHECS\jchecs_0.1.0_jet_ja.zip
JA-Bundle-Final\KOMODO\ARCHIVE\komodo-12-ja.zip
JA-Bundle-Final\POOR LITTLE PINKUS\plp-1661571-ja.zip
JA-Bundle-Final\TOGA 2\ARCHIVE\toga-312se-ja.zip
JA-Bundle-Final\ZCT\ARCHIVE\zct-032500_ja.zip
I can't vouch for the accuracy of the 7-zip diagnostic results. They are only the results I came up with when I ran the tests.

Did you end up unpacking it and scanning the results? MS Security Essentials also flags the main .exe.
