Re: What is this ?
Smells 'Fishy' to me perhaps with a little Lemon 'Fruit' juice added for flavour how can they have Rybka 3.1 to test against?

Re: What is this ?
I think more logic: Rybka 3.1 means Rybka 3 with 1cpu playing!

Re: What is this ?
Yes. I guess it's real.
I txted my cousin in oxnard, ca to call tobychess ( 928-246-1580 ).
He said they're selling their engine+gui for 59US$.
Unfortunately, my cousin doesn't know much about chess , so he didn't know what questions to ask about their chess engine.

Re: What is this ?
Maybe they mean Rybka 3 1-CPU, no idea. At least we know now, that the product exists and that it is remarkable strong, of course we neither have enough material to say how strong nor we know whether it might be derived from anything. Since it isn't downloadable 60$+Shipping is too much for me to just have a look on it. I am looking forward to the future reports on it e.g. from Tom and others.Harvey Williamson wrote:Smells 'Fishy' to me how can they have Rybka 3.1 to test against?

Hmm, maybe Chris Whittington ( author of Chess System Tal) as his son's name is Toby ?Harvey Williamson wrote:Who is the author would be a good one!mariaclara wrote: Yes. I guess it's real.

Re: What is this ?
No, imo it's just named Toby because the surname of the owner of that company is just Tobiason (http://www.tobychess.com/tobychess_2_004.htm).Damir wrote:Hmm, maybe Chris Whittington ( author of Chess System Tal) as his son's name is Toby ?Harvey Williamson wrote:Who is the author would be a good one!mariaclara wrote: Yes. For sure Chris is capable of making extraordinary things but so far I haven't seen extraordinary STRONG things from him... at least not engines... and as far as I know he isn't interested in practical chess programming anymore
