Chess Community Council

Post by Hood »

Hello,

what do you think about creating such a body.

It can verify different matters breaking authors rights, copyright rules prizes etc.

It then will give his certification or licence to the programs and chess shops.
Then we will have less problems with buying proper engines, books etc ?

The council shall be elected by the chesscommunity and the governing body shall be free from people working in the chess business.

what are your opinions about ?

It would be nice to know arguments for not ?

Many authors or sellers have own Websites where they are doing marketing of their products. It is OK. Worse is that they started the black marketing.

I found a bit arrogant the way they are telling customers what to buy what not. What is moral what not etc.

I have thought that such a council will help the clients.

It will recommend where to buy and what , it will verify the legal issues concerning the products.

We can't even agree on a set of moderators here.

How could we, "the community", agree on a board with any kind of authority?

If sth is too easy, it is not estimated.

That is other issue to elect council. Do not be too pessimistic.

Primary step is to decide if it is neccesary?

If yes then we will solve next problem election.

are you envisioning something like the International Standards Organization - I.S.O.
for chess products/etc. ? http://www.iso.org/iso/about.htm

i.e. your chess community will be the ISO's
ISO Chess technical committee developing standards for chess.
Standards often define the characteristics of a product or service, and the way to measure or test them. Consumer representatives aim to influence these characteristics so that products and services provide higher levels of:

* Quality and reliability
* Protection of safety and health
* Compatibility between products
* Consistency in the delivery of services
* Greater choice of goods and services
* Transparent product information
* Fairer competition, hence lower prices for consumers
* Suitability of products for vulnerable populations (children, the elderly)
* Environmental protection.
btw :arrow: in my work, I use the I.S.O. extensively as a guide before I purchase/order food products.

http://www.iso.org/iso/pressrelease.htm?refid=Ref1291

ISO technical specification ISO/TS 22002-1:2009, Prerequisite programmes on food safety – Part 1: Food manufacturing, sets out requirements for prerequisite programmes needed to realize safe products and provide food that is safe for human consumption. It is intended to be used in conjunction with, and to support, ISO 22000:2005 which gives requirements for a food safety management system.

And I recommend Rolf for the head of the organization :lol:

We just think of ISO as a file extension :D.

I think it's rather unnecessary, judging by things around here, all people would do is dispute the council's ruling :P.
