If someone still has the first original Tikov 1.0(0) release (win binary) from 2001-06-01, I would be grateful for sending it to me :)
I had found the wayback saved old site, but no downloads are working anymore from there.

I have a compile dated May 24, 2001, with accompanying source code. The exe is named tikov100, but when I run it the version number is reported as 0.6.2. I think it's from Dann Corbit's site. I am not sure if this is the one you are looking for.

I would like to try it (if it runs at all). Thanks Tony :)

OK, I have uploaded it here:
http://tonyschess.x10host.com/tikov100.rar
It works for me in Arena. Arena automatically fills in
/secondProtocolVersion /xreuse2
as command line parameters.

Version 0.6.2 - 3/4/2001 (JA compile). Works perfectly in Arena 3.5.1 GUI & Windows 10 OS.

You have a wrong date and wrong version for this.Sylwy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 5:21 pm Version 0.6.2 - 3/4/2001 (JA compile). Works perfectly in Arena 3.5.1 GUI & Windows 10 OS.

It is version 0.6.3 rev 2 JA. Jim compiled in 2005 from a source from 2001-05 (probably).
Edit: The date you gave was from an old readme included.
Relevant is changes.txt
I am interested in the bug(s) from the original older ones.
The one above I have of course.

Thanks, I have already downloaded it, the date of the sources looks very close.tmokonen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 5:15 pm OK, I have uploaded it here:

This seems to be a DC compilation a few days before the Tikov author(s) released
their own build. Probably that one is lost forever...
Dann had a hard time with it and rambled a lot about
... and the main author was not amused ;-)
(sorry for bringing this old stuff up Dann)

Re: First original Tikov release? (someone?)
I do have an April 24, 2001 version, which I have uploaded here:
http://tonyschess.x10host.com/tikov06.rar
This one doesn't print a version number when you issue the protover 2 command. I suppose the reason why I used the 0.6 version number is because that was the name of the archive when I downloaded it. This one I believe is also a DC compile, and is definitely buggy.

I see that Olivier Deville used Tikov 1.0 in his ChessWars tournaments so maybe he still has it.
