Something Funny :)

Post by swami »

I got this mail from someone I don't know

Subject:My private Engine for Testing

Code: Select all

 >Hello Mr Swami
>You are welcome to test my new engine and include it in any
>tournament you wish. I trust you will not distribute the engine
>without my explicit permission.
>Regards
>William Harvey
>Engine Attached:CheaterwareHarvey1.0beta.rar (453k)

I replied:
Cheaterware Harvey?

I guess it is a clone engine :)

Code: Select all

His Reply:
>That depends on your definition of clone. I prefer the term
>"reverse engineered". Some would say Strelka is a clone, and they
>won't test it. Most say Toga is a clone, but they still test it
>anyway. Its up to you.
>WH
I didn't download it.This engine maybe a commercial program or just a virus, it's likely the former.

But I found this conversation funny especially reverse engineered Part , do you get such mails or am I the only one?
No,I guess because I remember Tony posting one such message where he had received something about some engine.I don't recall what it was.

Hello Swaminathan :)

Just my point of view about these engines :
-Toga 1.2.1a is at least 80-100 elo stronger than Fruit 2.1
-Strelka 1.8 plays at near strenght as Rybka 1.0 beta

So in a such sitiuation my opinion is:
-i will preffer to test a x clone engine but if its stronger than the original one !

Best,
Sedat

Hi Sedat,

Yes,People do often test strong freewares, for them strength only matters and nothing else. But it does have an advantage, provides useful info of how strong it is, and strong players may analyse their games with strong legal clone derivative of Fruit.

But what I got in a mail is probably commercial engine judging by the name, or it maybe a virus If the virus filter was turned on and mail allows such mesages, then it likely is the exact Exe without changes of some program, because no author would have given their engine such name.but maybe he made some changes :P

Regards.

Latest message, This guy keeps sending me messages when I reply in very few words. It keeps getting funnier.

Code: Select all

Hi Swami
Do you imply it is a fake clone? What do you take me for? If it is
a clone by your definition, at least it is a genuine clone. But
since you've already decided not to test it, I guess you'll never
know.

I replied to him with the message that contained one simple sentence and this was his message.

Code: Select all

Hi Swami
Why do you think this is some kind of joke? I would like you to
know that I have, over the years, reverse engineered dozens of
engines. Several of these, what you call clones, are accepted by
testers and appear on rating lists all around the web. If you don't
want to be part of history as the first person to test the great
Cheaterware engine beta, then I am sure I will find lots of others
who are genuinely interested. BTW when the final Cheaterware engine
is released publicly it will be really unique in that it will allow
the operator to change the parameters on the fly while it is busy
analysing.
WH
The Attack of the (engine) Clones, that was the right title,Eriq.

If you get any similar message with shady engine name, just ignore it :)

I don't think at all it's a joke,it's a virus sent to infect swami's pc if he's so naive to open it 8-)

I was just laughing at the moron's replies.

And I don't think Swami is dumb enough to open the file let alone download it.

I already stated in the first message that I didn't download it and I found his messages funny ,and I was just replying to him in one sentence just to know how funny he would write a message in his reply. It just keeps getting funnier.Forget the engine.

and I only download engines from the genuine engine author.

I think that I know who's the e-mail author, the same one who has kept trying to infect my pc for the last 4 months by sending all kinds of his garbage to me including his try to make me adding his account to my MSN masenger so that he can see me when I am online....Jackleen Deeb was a stupid try from his side :!:
