It's really outstanding the work that was done by Nalimov for his table bases. Can someone remind us how they were created?

There is a long Wikipedia article about chess endgame databases, which includes a description about how they are generated. It is a general description though, not only for the Nalimov tablebases format. But I think the general logic is the same. The article also explaines DTM, DTC etc.
