Chessmaster Blitz - first CM11 setting

Post by Chris Tatham »

OK, I know I said I would stop CM testing but Cock de Gorter has been busy with some early settings for CM11 and since I had some spare time over the holiday period.......

CM11 Glorfindel 2CPU scores a massive 695.5/1000 (to think I was worried about settings breaching the 600 mark!) for a 40 elo improvement over the 2 CPU default. Congratulations Cock! - an impressive gain for an early attempt on the new CM and which seems to indicate that there is again plenty of room for improvement on the default (you can tweak away happily!)

Code: Select all

Program Elo + - Games Score Av.Op. Draws

Hi Chris,
Can you show us how to make it use 2 cpu under the Arena GUI and when it does, does it occupy one processor while it's opponent's turn :!: :?:

All the other engines he test against are single CPU engines. So I guess he is not worried about the chessmaster holding on to 1 CPU in a ponder off match.

By the way, where can I get this personality. I havent even tested CM11, to know that there is already a better personality is rather discouraging.

CM11 Sauron (Cock de Gorter) seems to be the best I've come across to date.

I got your point Tony, but I was still hoping someone to know how to switch off this annoying occupying of the cpu :?

I agree,I saw the latest test results of this personality and I was about to ask Cock de Gorter to e-mail me the damn thing :D
Thanks Graham for posting the settings....

Hi Wael,

I haven't used the King engine in Arena so am not able to make a specific gui-related answer. I think the short answer is no!

In my experience in multi-cpu use (ie with /t2 /t4 etc) although the engine does reserve CPU time if it is not needed by other applications, it does not actually ponder. Several testers have raised this with Johan and any resulting impact is apparantly minimal (and would be consistent for all my 2 cpu tests anyway).

Wizard is a great setting and former leader of the gauntlet, have you been working on anything else in this area?

Best wishes

Hi Tony,

Glorfindel:

Code: Select all

CM XI Glorfindel
opp=115 opn=119 opb=120 opr=119 opq=123 myp=115 myn=119 myb=120 myr=119 myq=123 cc=125 mob=125 ks=160 pp=117 pw=117 cfd=0 sop=100 avd=0 rnd=0 sel=21 md=99
Sauron does look promising also though it was Cock who chose Glorfindel for this test.

BTW - did you get CM11 working on your 'old' PC!?

Best wishes

Chris
