Hi,

I'd say you will hardly find a difference.

Be aware that the openings are quite limited and it will get boring because both of them do the same mistakes and you will find out very quickly how to beat them. Maybe you want also look for an opening module to avoid that.

My recomendation: Look for a nice board and modules of different programmers. MM I, MM 2, MM IV, Amsterdam or Roma. Don't care about version numbers.

BTW, I feel the same. The emulations are nice and although there are beautiful boards available that are useable with them, i prefere to play the original machines by far.

hi thank you :)

We will probably buy a HG 440 in the future, but isn't this advantage just minor at the moment as we just know only like 4 moves of any opening, so we are out of the book anyway early? or is there still for us an advantage with an opening module?

by the way does it improve the strength of the MM IV only in the opening or also bit in the middle or even endgame?

It doesn't improve the strength at all. But you must be aware that it will only play a few lines actively without opening module. And if you play the same opening lines again and again you will find lines with easy wins. The computer doesn't learn and will run into the same problems again and again.

Especially MM IV and MM V, even Polgar, are known for one particular weaknes. There is a mainline where you can offer a piece sacrifice, the computer will take it and lose in a few moves.

But of course you can try it without opening module and buy one later if you face such problems.
