Hi,
there was a version from www.gameloft.com:
Chessmaster v. 1.5.6 made in 2002 - an older version which was originally running on 68000.
I have it here on my palm - but didn´t find it on the website.

thanks for the link.
It looks like chessmaster stopped supporting this four years ago. The program no longer works with modern palm operating system.
There must be no money in palm chess, if even chessmaster can't make money.

The business problem with PDA's is that cellphones are replacing them. I have a Verizon cellphone that takes pictures, records moves and also plays chess ( including chessmaster). Oh yes it can make/receive a phones call too. This is not even a smartphone - just a plain old LG vx8300. The phone was free with a two year agreement - it sort of does evertthing I expected my old pda to do. Plain PDAs are in trouble are in trouble will soon be extinct. Then they will be a collector's item .ozziejoe wrote:thanks for the link.

one has to see that mobiles cause damage to the brain due to their electrosmog waves. THIS in combination with playing chess is IMO not the appropriate "advantage".
A palm is optimal for computerchess.
you can use it for other things and it is NOT transmitting electrosmog-waves like the mobiles do.
there is hiarcs and chesstiger and even the open source fruit.
why using a mobile ?
no. this is not the future.

That may be true, but I still prefer the PDA to the cellphone for chess purposes. The main reasons being screen size, batterylife and processing power.Quite often I use my PPC when wanting to quickly check a game of mine for blunders etc.Ever since Palm and Dell stopped making dedicated PDA machines I have seen the prices increase in online auctions for the latest PPC and Palm.MikeB wrote:The business problem with PDA's is that cellphones are replacing them. The main business problem for the manufactures of PDA is that they are too reliable and don't break down like flimsy phones so there is no future in making a product which won't get replaced every year or so.I have already built up a small collection of PPC's and hope to hang on to them as long as possible.
Maybe the iPhone will be the next big thing for chess as the screen looks good and big.Has anyone tried Shreder on it yet.I would be very interested to see how it stacks up against the best PPC's in terms of strength.

I wouldn't say that. There is Hiarcs, ChessGenius and Chess Tiger for the palm. There is also Naum which used to be free for palm.ozziejoe wrote:...
