1- Glaurung SMP 64 bits and Zappa Mexico tied for 1st with 11.5/15 and both undefaited . Very good for Glaurung !!!

3- Fre Rybka 64 bits - still very strong

4-Fritz 10 did very good only 1 loss

5- Naum 2.2 SMP , something strange 4 losses in the row !!! maybe a bug... don t know ... when I retarted the computer 4 wins in the row !!!

Main Fact in this tournament :

DS 11 did so so (not bad , not good)
Fruit beta is very strong and finished in the top 10...
Tested Crafty smp 8 cpu compiled by Jim, did very good on my Xeon
Deep Pharaon Crashed ... 3-4 times

Glaurung SMP tied for First place with Zappa Mexico

Post by Daniel Charles »

Nobody looks surprised that Glaurung smp 64 bits finish first !!!
ahead of very strong engine like Zappa Mexico, Naum 2.2, Fruit 2.3.3,free Rybka 64 bits ...

The last Crafty SMP Version played very high level chess

I never noticed but Zappa 1.1 could play with 8 cpu :D

You played with a private version of Glaurung that could possibly be stronger than any of the engines in a 15 round tournament. I wonder how good is the new Glaurung in a head to head match.

Glaurung ready for catching the fish?

Congrats Tord!

I am still waiting to test this new version.

I wonder when Glaurung 2.0 will be released... from these results maybe Tord is quite close to being happy with it :)

It has been "a few days away from release" since more than one month, but I am always too lazy or busy to update my web page and the readme file and prepare the final package. :)

These results are nothing more than plain luck. The current Glaurung isn't much stronger (perhaps no stronger at all) than 2 - ε/5. The changes are mostly the addition of new features (MultiPV mode, UCI parameters, working Chess960 support, support for up to 8 CPUs, etc.), and somewhat more polished, readable and well commented source code.

Despite the long period that has passed since Glaurung 2 - ε/5, I haven't done much work on my program. Chess programming is simply no longer as interesting as it used to be.

Why no Rybka 2.3.2a ?? The free Rybka will be using only 1 core and is a very rough version of Rybka ... It would be nice to see how Rybka 8 core fares against Zappa and Glaurung with a V8.
