AMD or INTEL??

What is better for chess nowadays? AMD or INTEL? I know a few years ago everyone was saying ATHLON is better for chess. I'm looking at purchasing an AMD ATHLON dual core 6000+. I already have an ATHLON dual core 5000+, will there be much difference in playing strength with comp vs comp? 6000+ vs 5000+? Also, how will Deep versions (Deep Fritz, Deep Rybka 2.32) play with Dual cores? vs Non Deep Versions of Programs?
