Deep Hiarcs 12 gauntlet. Surprising results.

Post by Tomcass »

Hardware: Intel QX6700 Quad Core
Game in 10 minutes. (Equivalence: Game in 1 hour in my AMD Athlon XP 1600+)
Deep Hiarcs 12: Own book.
All other engines: Deep Fritz 10 book.
Ponder: Off

2008AbrDHiarcs12 2008

Deep Hiarcs 12 - Deep Shredder 11 UCI 7.5 - 2.5
+5/-0/=5 75.00%
Deep Hiarcs 12 - Loop 13.6(x4) 6.5 - 3.5
+4/-1/=5 65.00%
Deep Hiarcs 12 - Naum 3(x4) 5.0 - 5.0
+1/-1/=8 50.00%
Deep Hiarcs 12 - Rybka 2.3.2a mp 32-bit 5.5 - 4.5
+2/-1/=7 55.00%
Deep Hiarcs 12 - Deep Fritz 10 8.5 - 1.5
+7/-0/=3 85.00%
Deep Hiarcs 12 - Toga II 1.4.1SE 3.0 - 7.0
+1/-5/=4 30.00%

My surprise: Excellent performance by Deep Hiarcs 12, including a tight win over Rybka 2.3.2a ... but look at the result against Toga II 1.4.1 SE.

Deep Hiarcs 12 has lost only 3 out of 50 games against DS 11, Loop 13, Naum 3, Rybka and DF 10. Result: 19 wins 28 draws 3 loses against this powerful group.

But it has lost 5 out of 10 games against Toga II 1.4.1 SE. I know this is a very small test, but I must recognize that this result has surprised me.

I will repeat the test -same conditions and gauntlet- with Hiarcs 12 Padeborn.

Salut!

Here are the results. Exactly under the same conditions:

2008AbrDHiarcsPadeborn12 2008

Deep Hiarcs Paderborn 2007 - Deep Shredder 11 UCI 5.5 - 4.5 +3/-2/=5 55.00%
Deep Hiarcs Paderborn 2007 - Deep Fritz 10 5.0 - 5.0 +3/-3/=4 50.00%
Deep Hiarcs Paderborn 2007 - Loop 13.6(x4) 7.0 - 3.0 +6/-2/=2 70.00%
Deep Hiarcs Paderborn 2007 - Naum 3(x4) 5.0 - 5.0 +1/-1/=8 50.00%
Deep Hiarcs Paderborn 2007 - Rybka 2.3.2a mp 32-bit 5.0 - 5.0 +1/-1/=8 50.00%
Deep Hiarcs Paderborn 2007 - Toga II 1.4.1SE 7.5 - 2.5 +5/-0/=5 75.00%

My feelings, not only looking at the results, but also following most of the games:

Deep Hiarcs Padeborn is a strong program, but Deep Hiarcs 12 is in my opinion substantially stronger.

Yes, the Paderborn version is for the persons not only interested in the engines' strength ;)
