If you compile Stockfish 14.1 with pop + neon + dotprod, then you should get around 60.000.000 nps.
Hopefully Stockfish developers have done some improvements on ARM CPUs.

It's helpful to remember that choice of OS, be that ChromeOS, Windows, MacOS or Linux, tends to be "religion" rather than "careful analysis": I remain convinced that, for the majority of computer users, ChromeOS would be their best choice.

The macbook airs are brilliant! Formfactor/no noise and somewhat fast (macos is not so bad at all). With 'brew' you get some goodies from the (free) software-world. Otherwise it's an expensive unix-prison.
