it is not so specialjennifers wrote:what is so special about the 6080B?
it is the same program and features as the normal Excellence 6080 but the B stands for some design changes to the motherboard that do not effect the playing program in any way

It strikes me that the cost of this mod can sometimes exceed the cost of acquiring the higher spec unit in original form. Apart from the fact that all other things being equal, a completely original high spec unit would be worth more than it's unofficially upgraded bretheren. Then again, maybe the seller will resolder 100 joints for free during surgery

very nice, but in my eyes a little too much wood for the small Excellence!Steve B wrote: now ..on the other hand..This Excellence is VERY special:

I think, this is Bryan's best creation until now:

Especially the idea to convert the Chess Explorer into a wooden peg sensory board was great!

It is indeed very cute - Holz in miniature. I rather thought of it as the Mephisto Holz Academy that one would find in a doll's house. But in the end, you always know what's under the skin and that would grate away at me, keeping me up at night in cold sweats.

i think the MORE Holz the better
there can NEVER be enough Holz
the one major fault in our hobby is that no manuals were ever released in Holz
there are of course Holz Pieces ,boxes and i even have an originally released Holz power adaptor but alas never any manuals
the legendary Excellence Deluxe has just the right amount of Holz /computer hardware ratio i think
known by collectors worldwide as the H/CH Ratio,it is generally accepted that a H/CH ratio of 90% Holz / 10% computer hardware should be a minimum at the very least
More Holz More Better Regards

Well I guess top of the list then would come Novag Solo Deluxe at 99.99% Holz and 0.01% computerSteve B wrote:it is generally accepted that a H/CH ratio of 90% Holz / 10% computer hardware should be a minimum at the very least
