Non WB/UCI Chess Programs

I heard long ago from someone(Dann I think) telling me in CCC that there are a lot more chess program that don't support either winboard or UCI.

So,I'm collecting more information as possible in this thread.

And by the way,I was talking about the stand alone chess programs,which excludes chessbase native engines.

There is "PAX" (the author is Len Dorfman), it comes also with it's own GUI (rather weak program). It can be found here

Mephisto Meisterschach (a Nimzo version)
Mephisto Schachmeister (i don't have it but I think it was an early Shredder version)
"Schach dem Schweinehund" (a Nimzo version with funny cartoon dog)
USCF Chess (included a Windows version of the Tasc Tutor)
Power Chess (built around a Wchess engine, with talking queen)
Chessica (a Fritz/Quest version, I think for Win 3.1)

DOS Oldies:

Socrates 3.0
Kallisto
Kasparov's Gambit
ChessFriend
Zarkov
Check Check

All these are commercial programs, and stand-alone.

Well there is also SMIRF for 8x8 Chess and Chess960. But there are 10x8 Capablanca Chess board aware chessprograms, too: SMIRF, ChessV and Gothic Vortex. SMIRF and ChessV are supporting several Chess variants.

You are well informed! But you mean Kasparov Chessmate (c) Hexacto, 2003. Kasparov's Gambit is (c) Electronic Arts, 1993. It was similar to Socrates, also by Don Dailey and Larry Kaufman. The working title was "Titan."

(Kasparov has lent his name to at least one more chess program but I forgot it's name.)

I had a Kasparov dedicated chess computer many years ago (stolen from me in a burglary). I can't remember any details or the name of the company.
