Hiarcs 11 UCI --Hypermodern?

Indeed - interms of style what IS "Hypermodern" about it? IMHO it certainly does not play like a Reti or Nimzovich....It does not seem to close the positions and proceed on a one color square attack after doubling the opponents pawns like Nimzo or the Protracted Positional maneuvering of Reti. At least not when out of book as far as I can tell.......... Let the debate begin?

Hypermodern doesnt mean that it is more modern. Read the link below. It is possible that you are just joking.

Ahem........... I delineated what was meant by 'Hypermodern' when I referred to Nimzo and reti... i.e. a particular "STYLE" of chess. I was not referring to modern in terms of being current. Interesting conclusion you have drawn from the previous posting..........

maybe it gives less bonus in the opening for a pawn in the center of the board, and perhaps increases the bonus of a bishop on the long diagonal?

Indeed.............. Why call it "Hypermodern?" at all? I fail to see the major difference here of this program the 'regular' Hiarcs program. I reiterate--Hypermodern implies one would expect perhaps a penchant on the program's' part for closed positions and wing manuvering etc. or other Hypermodern related chess. I don't see it here....... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,........................

Perhaps it shopuld. That in conjuction with tweaked program seetings for each book (or perhaps hypermodern personality if you will) would add a coniseures touch I think...........

May be all the reasons that you suggested are the reasons why Hypdermodern isnt on by default. I think it would be a waste of time if they spend time on creating a Hypermodern book instead of improving the engine.

After all, that's where those who should know resides.
