Inability to resist tempation (Junior UCI)

Post by Tony Thomas »

I finally bought Junior 10.1 UCI, along with that I had to purchase 6 months membership for 34.95, so it cost me a total of 64.94 cents for a single CPU engine. Now, if someone can tell me what's the easiest way to set up a winboard engine to run on ICC, I am thinking of running Romichess ofcourse..

Thanks in advance
Tony

Note: Interfaces that I have, Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition, Arena 1.1, Chesspartner that came with Chess Tiger 2007. I doubt that Mayura that came with Sjeng supports ICC...I also have winboard, but I am not very good with running tournaments with it because I dont want to use an external tournament organizer.

I think you have to choose the GUI that gives you the best option in the book you want to use. I used ChessPartner but that limited my book choice.

ChessPartner is easier to use, I used it to operate TwistedLogic last CCT.
Sheriff helped me on how to set it up. It's quite easy.

As for book, you can use CP specific books which are available for download.

I am not worried about books, Romi will use her own. Can you post the directions?

Install Cp latest one. Install engine, there is an option on which engine to use for internet play, choose Romi. And connect to ICC using your id.
Also ,there is some settings to use when playing on the server, like timelag = 0 etc I forgot what it was, When i get back home, I may try to help you out. Until that, you do the above procedure and see if it works.
Also give me your messenger id, either yahoo, msn, or gtalk.
Why don't you operate Romi in ACCA World Computer rapid next month? Just weekend.

If I can figure all that out then no problemo, I will take the weekend off and Romi will compete in ACCA..I already have CP installed, I had no other option to get Chesstiger out of the installation package..I will do the rest on an offday, not in a mood to do anything new.

Here is the update...

I have Romichess P3k installed as a WBII engine..I am not sure where I have to go to make it the internet engine..

I hardly ever use the Chesspartner GUI, so you have to give me directions that are simple..

Later
Tony

Update 2

I am able to connect to ICC using chesspartner 5.4. However, it says interface set to Chesspartner 5.4 (no engine)...

Just load Romi (with your desired parameters) and connect with your icc handle. Then, if you right click over console window, you can see a list of common options for ics play.

I also have set an alias to run some commands when connecting and at the end of a game (see http://www.chessclub.com/help/alias for more details). One of mine is like this: "multi resume; seek 5 3 r a; seek 15 0 r a; seek 25 10 r a;". You have to put your alias or desired commands in "commands" in your ics profile.

Once you have set options as you like you can save ics profile and layout.

And of course your account must be a (C) computer one.
