For Justice to have been done it should also be seen to have been done i.e. Justice must be done and seen to be done. There is no mention on the xyclOps website about it being a Fruit/Toga derivative so the public can still be mislead. To issue an apology only here at CCC and then carry on with business as usual seems hypocritical.

Maybe he is working on 1.3 version.

Gerold.

P.S. I don.t think any version is available for download.

I think he promised to release xyclOps as open source, but so far, nothing!

hi Norm
if you release this http://www.xyclops.com/cyclone.html with all these features, it would be as some kind of breaktrough in the chess engines history, i think.

Geno

Whichever version he is working on is irrelevant. Personally I would expect :-

- the terms of the GPL to be honoured.
- proper attribution of Fruit/Toga be made on the website.

Otherwise the "apology" is meaningless.

As I said to him in a post above this, his behaviour seemed to me a gesture of cunning instead of sheer desire to do justice and offer a felt confession.
He just did damage control and no more IF he is not following suite his words here.

Interesting there is a website called http://gpl-violations.org/index.html where they list GPL violations. I have not seen any chess software in there.

What changes did Norman Schmidt, mean when he said that he has made changes to the xyclops website?
