So true, and especially irony takes needs a minimum of those two letters to be understood... guess Harvey will give us no real answer why Houdini isn't allowed to play on playchess (not that i even care about it, just think all this manipulation sucks big way)... Alex

Not really interested in any of the engines they may post overGraham Banks wrote:Just changing the topic (and I'm not necessarily referring to any person in particular), it's amazing why so many non-Russians from CCC feel it necessary to be members of the piracy forum. i'm assuming yr referring to myself -- i don't have that attitude, & am quite insulted. i login their under the same name i do here & at the rybka forum & i pay for what costs money. i was involved in 'the piracy forum' for a time when ivanhoe seemed to have promise...unfortunately those days seemed to wane some time ago. though i haven't given it a good look around recently, i've said before & i'll say again i think it's actually a great computer chess forum, which, as i recall, covers far more aspects of the game & data available for it (free or otherwise, yes -- it is undeniably a piracy forum) than this or any other one does.Graham Banks wrote:Just changing the topic (and I'm not necessarily referring to any person in particular), it's amazing why so many non-Russians from CCC feel it necessary to be members of the piracy forum. There is a real piracy ruling - law of power -i am admin and i can do what i want, you can discuss only that what me admin likes.
Splitting people by nationality in that case was not good idea!
Would you like to have everything for money? Not everything can be bought for money.
You can not serve for 2 masters.

This name seems familar ...AdminX wrote:Sorry you were misrepresented. I do have some questions for you however, Why does Chessbase not allow Houdini to play in the Playchess Engine room? Who do you answer to over there that said Houdini was not allowed? I hope you don't mind, I ask because you are the one most are blaming. They don't think its coming from Chessbase.Harvey Williamson wrote:The problem here is that the quote is made up and is another one of those stupid threads copied and pasted here from elsewhere.AdminX wrote: As in the quote of Harvey's posted above.

Re: The CB & CCRL monopoly game
While I don't care for censorship, it's Chessbase's right (as is the case with
CCRL, etc.) to allow or not allow whoever they wish on their website, with a few exceptions (mainly dealing with illegal content). The rights of free access and free speech may exist in public in some localities, but they don't exist on a private website.
Think of it as somebody's home. I can't walk onto somebody's property and demand that they let me into their house. If I'm allowed inside the house, I can't demand that I be allowed to strip to my underwear and make obscene gestures. I can't demand to be allowed to chew gum or even to use the phone or bathroom. The owner can allow or disallow any privileges as he/she sees fit. The only right I have is to leave (provided that I haven't broken any laws letting them detain me until the police arrive). It's the same on a private website. We have whatever rights the site owners give us; no more and no less.
