I personally don't expect it before december. I don't think it will be released if it is weaker than Houdini 3 (coming in 2 months), then, i suspect that its release could be very far.

Houdart is in silence, so he's on vacation or he's working hard and it is even possible a release of H3 in advance ( i hope july - august).

He's already announced the date of H3: Sept.

Hi Fern,

That is still under consideration, so we don't have an actual date. A lot depends on being happy with the SMP version.

Don
Capital punishment would be more effective as a preventive measure if it were administered prior to the crime.

Don
SMP version of Komodo will receive the "Most awaited chess engine award 2012"

From a marketing point of view, Houdart would be ill advised to cannibalize himself

He has no opposition so far, then why not delay H3 and strike back once the new opponents have already played their cards

As you know, Don, what matters to me -and perhaps to many others- is the collateral features you can give to us, not just strength, which is already more than enough. If not yet a new and interesting GUI, at least some other things that could be got from an existent GUI.

Something that I would like very much is sort of a Kasparov Gambit refurbished. Do you remember that program? It has, I believe, an engine by you. With all the current power of software and PC, how much better it could be! Instead of Kasparov I could accept your face saying things :-)

I think Komodo can give strenght but if you play chess you see how Komodo plays in a special way, with those continuos manouevres. I like it.
I never saw an engine playing like this before. And positionally Komodo still has no rivals. I hope their programmers will be able to improve again the positional play and to fill the gap to Houdini in tactics.

I think Houdart won't release ''the best'' Houdini 3 for the reasons that you explained.

I think he will save some ideas and some elos for H4.
