Stockfish wins TCEC

Post by lucasart »

Finally SF, after being twice the runner-up, has won TCEC.

14 games left +8 for SF: I let you do the maths...
Probability of winning is now well above 99.9%

So we may as well announce it!

I hope Marco decides to release SF 5 after TCEC. Would be the perfect time :)
Theory and practice sometimes clash. And when that happens, theory loses. Every single time.

Will it be the version playing on TCEC or the latest dev at the moment?

Yes I agree, I think it is more by how much of a margin SF will win by! A really truly impressive performance by SF and it will certainly move the playing field much much higher. The most impressive thing about SF was how quickly it is able to go very deep in a position. This turned out to be especially lethal in the endgame where it has become the de facto engine to sanity check an endgame position. The combination of excellent evaluation with impressive speed have made it an engine that has pulled away from the pack by a large margin. A well deserved congratulation for all those involved in creating the latest SF monster! Personally I would have called it SF 5 TCEC 2014

Unbelievable! SF is now the strongest engine!! When MC announced, that SF goes to public testing framework I thought it's days as top engine
were over - how wrong You could be :D .But was Joonas 'late join' patch the final blow? In stage 4 Komodo has some 20% higher node speed, but now it is even!
