1. Stockfish gets no book. Which means it will likely play the same moves each time as white and black, unless Rybka varies. That can stack the game badly.

2. If Rybka has good opening lines to choose from, it will always be starting out ahead which is an advantage, unless stockfish finds some sort of unusual replies here and there to take Rybka out of book.

3. If Rybka uses learning, this could go bad pretty quickly since a good learner would keep playing winning lines while avoiding any that it loses.
Why you did not like my poll ? )), is than can be the reason:
Can we say Rybka is still King ?!

And last,
Simply with my current handicapped test,
I just wanted to show that Rybka can be performed better...no more no less...

Best,

One thing more,
I am a little bit surprised also that still nobody congratulated me...
To achieve such results (even against Stockfish) is not so easy as it looks...I've spent really many efforts (at least 3 hours) )))

Continuing...

I wonder also about the current published results

I mean, if the opening book did not help much...

Then why we see almost same performance ?
So, is that can be one of the reasons:
1)Stockfish 5 suffers with 6 cores ?
2)Stockfish 5 suffers at Blitz ?
3)Stockfish 5 suffers under Fritz GUI ?
4)Stockfish 5 suffers with Ponder OFF ?
5)Stockfish 5 suffers without Tablebases?
or... ??

In my opinion,
1)Rybka 3 performed in almost same performance simply due to the opening book helped much !!
2)Stockish 5 (or any other engine) plays not so strong lines when is without book !
3)I am not a GM, but I have a little experience in book making and that experience helps me a lot ))

And for those who still disagree with me,
I respect your views...it's ok...
And if everybody agree with me that means I am doing it wrong !
Btw, I can make another challenge, let's see who is right ))
Would you like to gain 10.000 USD ?) for more details you need to contact me...

Cg Sedat, you've just demonstrated why Fischer invented Chess 960.

Hehe...

Look what I will tell you:
I've just demonstrated that Stockfish (without book) can be beaten easily by much weaker chess programs !

Ok, I admit I didn't expect such a good result for Rybka (considering smp adds a bit of non-determinism by itself).
One more reason not to enter any tournament without a good book.

Yes...and I don't think that only Rybka 3 can beat Stockfish 5

For example, if I will start to work very very hard over this book,
then there is a big possibility even your engine (Cheng) to beat easily Stockfish (without book)

Of course I don't want to spend more time over optimizing this book,
Because it requires really much efforts...no time for all sorry...
Even if I will be successful about Rybka to be 100 Elo over Stockfish...is that very important ? I think no...

In other words,
There is nothing impossible !!

Well, this is also why weaker programmes can win tournaments, because their best in class book compensates for the engine not being so strong. Probably some examples of that in ICGA tournaments.

+1

Just I'd like to add,
It is a pity that I could not to publish this poll on my website,
For example, almost all SCCT Book Authors are not members in Talkchess forum
And this poll gave me a good experience that many people have no clue about opening theory...

BTW, if the voters were based on only book makers,
then probably the poll leader of the voting results would be:
I expect to see better performance in favor of Rybka

I think that it is easier to get good result at fast time control.
If you play stockfish with no book against Rybka3 with the same book at 30 minutes per game then I expect stockfish to get more than 60%.
