Okay, here's the scoop. I "actually" got an email from Robert Houdart, I asked if he really said this to this person. And he told me "The e-mail on is fake, it appears to be just an elaborate trolling attempt." I'm not lying, he really said that to me.

It's sad it's a fake. Because I wish Houdini 5.0 was coming.

Really? So he actually responded to you? So he gave no indication as to whether or not there will be a Houdini 5? Of course I doubt there will be anyways - but you making direct contact with him is pretty incredible.

So I missed that post before someone deleted it....so the gist is Houdini is not actually DEAD and Houdart is working on Houdini 5.0? But it is not strong enough yet? Is that the long and short of it? .......Thx AR

It basically suggested that Houdart said houdini 5.0 is alive and well, and is currently 12 elo stronger than the latest stockfish dev version, but did not want to release it until it is 60 elo better than stockfish. It seemed like houdart made a concession to actually respond to his email because the poster bought a late houdini 4.0 purchase, and because he just bought houdini 4.0 he made a concession to respond to his houdini 5.0 inquiry, while he never responded to my houdini 5.0 inquiry.

Yes, he responded to me. However, I didn't ask about houdini 5.0, but rather wanted to verify the authenticity of this email that the poster mentioned. Since it was for that purpose and not asking about houdini 5.0, I think that's why he responded to me. I don't think he's answering any questions about houdini 5.0 for some reason. I just know the poster before was a fake according to Robert.

"This time it is the REAL Robert Houdart and Houdini 5.01b will appear at a 'New Horizons'."

Guys...I think this is some clue on the date he will release it.
