Which OS are you using? Windows? Mac? Linux? And how much RAM & processor? And what are your specific means? Need a database? An engine? A PGN browser? A mix of the 3 ?

Windows with quite good specs. 64 bit, ivy bridge, one tera GB, and 16GB RAM (the thing of which i was told 8GB was more than enough, and i said, give me 16GB to be sure).
Yes, my idea was to get most of what is usefull for studying chess, but mainly, a couple of strongest engines with what they need, to work well. I wouldn't mind 7 piece TB's also.

I mean something that enables me use a chess engine on my computer! (Maybe it's called something else?)

I am STILL living without a chess browser and unable to download chess engines and use them.
Still after all this time. I have never been succesful in getting a fully workable, user friendly chess engine up and working on my computer.

Maybe since i have had it repaired, it will work better now?

What i want is the best carrier and to know how to insert a chess engine into it, and to be able to use all functions (infinite, set up etc), easily. And that i should not be told in the middle of a game that it's time out and i may not continue playing.

Then i would like to put into it the best version of SF or asmfish.

With Chrome browser (PNaCl Tech), Stockfish runs superfast and multi-core in the browser.
And there's a big database of master games.
Nothing to install on your computer.
