Re: On-line engine blitz tourney June
I am away from home, so will be running Ares on a laptop. Also, I will try streaming Ares games of this event on Twitch with the same laptop. This will likely hurt Ares performance, but it will be fun.
The twitch channel is charlesrobersonmscs
After the even is over, I may try to steam one of Graham's events.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney June
Arasan won the tournament, well done! Runners up are Belfish Wasp and Marvin, it seems Marvin improved a lot.
Nightmare came in a totally lost position out of book in it's game against Belfish, something to look at. Hope to see you all next time.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney June
Only at the end of the tournament I saw that Skipper was playing with 100Kn/sec instead of 500. So something went wrong. Probably optimize was switched off. After a re-compile it played at normal speed in the last two rounds. But does not matter that much it probably would have lost all games anyhow as usual.

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney June
Losing all games can be frustrating, but it is nice that you are participating in this tournament. 500 Kn/sec. vs 100 Kn/sec. makes a difference of perhaps 150 Elo points, it is not at all clear that you would have lost all games with 500 Kn/sec.Henk wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 10:48 pm Only at the end of the tournament I saw that Skipper was playing with 100Kn/sec instead of 500. Skipper plays steadily, without problems, it would be a shame if you stop the development of Skipper.

I was or still am wasting time on user-interface for I wanted to learn something about MAUI. By the way my knowledge of database is bad as well. Database probably made my hard disk crash I remember. Don't want to repeat that.

Other way to destroy a machine is computing a perft or other heavy computation without pauses, cooling or with a bad fan. I don't know.
So watch out with heavy computations.
