Chess tester for a forked engine

Post by Look »

Hi,

I am working on a fork of a top chess engine. During roughly 6 month of chess coding I gained about 10 Elo points in self play. Albeit on a 10+ years old desktop PC. I planned to buy a high-end PC to perform the testing. But it seems to me I can no longer highly use electricity at our house because two separate fluorescent lamps burned out, electrical wires might be next. In case of continuing development, if rating progress is high, the engine could be sold too. Otherwise I would be forced to select another programming route. If anybody is interested in this testing, contact me. Thanks.
Farewell.

It seems that many users are more concerned with their own stuff. When I look at TalkChess, there are 50 engines for every tester. Maybe it just makes more sense to publish an engine. Then the operators of the rating lists will pounce on these objects of desire like crazy. The community seems to be unpredictable at the moment. Perhaps, most are waiting of an engine, its stronger as Stockfish. Well, if an engine is 50 Elo points stronger than Stockfish, you wouldn't believe how many people suddenly wake up from their deep slumber. Maybe it's all just my imagination. You have to know, AI set the most mate here. A heated argument between groups that don't get along could actually revitalize the community, it's always been that way.

PS: If you know: Rahman Paidar (IRAN) give him my regards!!

I am not intending to publish my engine for free as I need to make some money. Fifty Elo points higher than Stockfish ? Seems a dream at this time. Also IMHO gains are slow like steps, but after some progress, they would amass. In conclusion for some unknown duration I stop working on the forked engine and I would do other programming activity.
Farewell.
